Highlights from Last Year’s Black Wellness Summit

🌱Join us for an inspiring journey at our second annual Black Wellness Summit, culminating Mental Health Awareness Week with a celebration of resilience and renewal. This year's theme, "Imagining Possibilities: Envisioning New Worlds," invites you to explore the boundless potential of black healing. Over two enriching days, we invite you to connect with a vibrant community, share stories, and envision a future brimming with possibilities. Come break bread, dance to the rhythm of our shared experiences, and bask in the radiant joy of black resilience. Together, lets ignite conversations, cultivate connections, and embark on a collective journey towards holistic wellness. Join us as we reimagine what black healing can truly embody, shaping a future filled with love, care and hope.

  • WHERE: Imagemotion 370 Rue Guy #G11, Montréal, QC H3J 1S6, Canada

  • WHEN: Saturday May 18th & Sunday, Sunday May 19th, 2024.

  • COST: Each event is priced at $10, yet no one will be denied participation due to financial constraints; kindly reach out to info@blackhealingcentre.com with "BWS24TICKET" in the subject line and specify the activity you wish to attend to receive a complimentary ticket.

  • ACCESSIBILITY: 10 minutes away from Metro Lucien-L'Allier, on the ground floor. Kids space available.

IMPORTANT DETAILS:

  1. The summit is open to participants who identify as Black.

  2. Registration is necessary for each summit day AND each summit event for all of the participants (limited capacity is available).

  4. Negative COVID-19 test prior to attending is strongly recommended. The pandemic is still impacting our communities so please be mindful when entering our space.

DAY 1 PROGRAMMING

12:30PM TO 2:30PM | Exploring Wellness Workshop: Come and explore delve into what wellness means to you, co-create a definition of Black wellness through arts-based methods, and engage in a unique space fostering understanding of its roots in our lives, histories, and communities.

3:30PM to 4:30PM | Danse Pou Lavi Lavi: Join us for a Haitian Traditional dance class where participants will engage in a key aspect of wellness through movement, experiencing a semblance of a new world where roots and traditions of the diaspora are integrated into wellness practices.

6PM to 8PM | Nurturing the Nurtures: Black Healers Mingle: Come join us for our annual Black Healers Mingle during this year's Black Wellness Summit. This curated space brings together Montreal's Black mental health practitioners for an evening of connection, networking, and mutual celebration. Indulge in an evening of camaraderie over a catered dinner, as we unite to uplift and honour each other's vital contributions.

DAY 2 PROGRAMMING

12:30PM to 2PM | Soulful Stillness: Community Meditation: Join facilitator Joanna Chevalier for a transformative meditation session, offering participants a space to relax, unwind, and engage in mindfulness practices for self-reflection on their needs, wellness practices, and envisioning the new world they desire to inhabit.

3PM - 5PM | Where We’ve Been and Where We’re Going: Reimagining the Black Family: Join us for "Where We’ve Been and Where We’re Going: Reimagining the Black Family," a transformative panel at the BHC Black Wellness Summit. Four diverse voices representing different identities within the Black family will explore how our current generation is dismantling intergenerational traumas and colonial mindsets, forging new paths towards healing and resilience. Together, we'll redefine 'family,' honouring both blood ties and chosen bonds as we envision a future rooted in love, empowerment, and solidarity.

5:15PM - 6PM | Closing Ceremony: Join us for a closing visioning ceremony led by Dr. Lisa Ndejuru. Through guided exercises and reflections, we'll delve into our personal healing visions and imagine a future where our community flourishes in wellness, resilience, and liberation.
